Now you've either hired your DJ (or band) and need lighting. So, what are you looking for? Wall wash? Uplighting? Dance floor lighting? Monogram? Pin spotting? Cake lighting? There are TONS of options for lighting. Lighting at weddings has really become a focal point these days. Greater than 75% of weddings in the DFW area now have some sort of lighting, with uplighting or wall wash lighting being the most common.

Hiring a company for lighting is quite a bit easier than hiring a DJ, but you'll still want to know a few things:

- What type of lights are they using: LED is more common & popular but some companies still use older halogen lights. Both will look good, but LED lights don't get hot. So you won't have to worry about children burning themselves on lights.

- How many lights does the quote include: Most companies charge by the light. So make sure they are quoting for for enough lights for the room.

- Will they meet you to help you pick a lighting color in person: This may be important to make sure you like the color.

- Do they charge for set up or delivery: Most companies do, so find out how much it will be.

- Do they have any service charges or other hidden fees: This is showing up more often, so again, find out how much to factor it into your budget.

Uplighting & Wall Wash
These prices can vary, but the going rate is about $40-$50 per light. Most rooms need a pretty significant number of lights to make it look good. Some rooms 15 will work. Others need 30 or 40. There's nothing worse than spending $1000 or more on lighting, only to have it be inadequate for the room.

DFW Wedding Dance Floor Lighting
If you have a band or DJ, you should see if they offer this. Most will include it for $100 or $200 for a small package. If you want something more elaborate, you may need a lighting company and could spend $500+ or more for a truss system with lighting.

Table Pin Spotting
In the Dallas area, you will typically pay $40-$50 per table for pin spotting.

Cake lighting
This will cost about $50-$100.

Monogram
Expect to pay $250-$300 for a monogram. Be sure the rate you are quoted includes the design & creation of the gobo. The company should work with you on the design.
